French Holiday Program

Programme de vacances Français

Perth WA

  • Does my child need to be fluent in French to attend?

Our program is designed for francophone families — children who already have some level of understanding of French at home.
Your child does not need to be fully fluent, but they should already be familiar with the language and comfortable in an environment where French is spoken throughout the day.
We do not offer English translation during activities.

My child understands French but doesn’t speak it yet — is the program suitable?

Yes. Many children in Australia are what we call “passive bilinguals”: they understand French but don’t always use it actively. Through stories, theatre, games and creative tasks, they naturally begin to speak more, gain confidence, and take pleasure in expressing themselves in French.

This is a common profile in our program.

Will this help my child maintain or develop French while living in Australia?

Yes — and this is one of the main reasons families join the French Holiday Program.

We offer a full immersion environment built on play, imagination and creative exploration. When children act, move, invent, collaborate and laugh in French, the language becomes meaningful, alive, and emotionally anchored.

For bilingual families living in Australia, this kind of joyful immersion is often the most effective way to keep French vibrant and relevant in everyday life.

Is the program suitable for complete beginners in French?

No. Our program is conducted entirely in French, and children are expected to understand the language well enough to follow instructions, participate in group games, and enjoy the activities without frustration.

If your child is not yet familiar with French, this is probably not the right fit — but we’re happy to recommend alternative pathways for beginners.

Is this a language class or a theatre workshop?

    Neither — and both.
The French Holiday Program is not a traditional French lesson, and it is not a formal theatre course either. It is a creative immersion space where children discover stories, characters, movement, and imagination in French.

They learn the language by living it, not by studying it.
They develop confidence, fluency and expression naturally, through meaningful play.

    Is this just childcare?

No. While our programs are safe, structured and age-appropriate, they are not childcare services.
We offer a pedagogical and artistic experience led by trained French-speaking educators. The day is designed with intention: movement, storytelling, group creation, theatre games and hands-on activities — always in French.

Children are guided, supported, and invited to express themselves creatively throughout the day.

What age groups can join the French Holiday Program?

Our programs are designed for children aged 5 to 12, divided into activities suited to each developmental stage.
All groups are supported by French-speaking educators who adapt the rhythm and creative challenges to the children’s ages and confidence levels.

  • What are the operating hours?

The standard program runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Optional early drop-off (8:30 am) and late pick-up (4:00 pm) are available for $55 per week.

    Where is the program located?

All sessions take place in North Perth in safe and creative spaces suited to theatre, movement and group activities.
The exact address for each holiday theme is listed on the enrolment page and in your confirmation email.

How does drop-off and pick-up work?

A French-speaking educator will welcome your child at the door each morning.
At 3:00pm, children are released directly to a parent or authorised adult.

If someone different is collecting your child, please let us know in advance.

How do I register? You must fill out the secure online registration form and pay the total fees 20 days before the start date of the program.

    Do you offer single-day enrolments?

No. Each holiday program is designed as a full creative arc, with stories, games and group activities that develop across the day.
For this reason, we only accept full-week enrolments.

Can I stay with my child at the beginning of the day?

We generally encourage a quick and confident goodbye, as this helps children settle and join the group more easily.
Our team is experienced with young and shy children, and we support them gently as they transition into the day.

If your child has specific needs, feel free to contact us before the program.

    Are places limited?

Yes. To ensure a high-quality experience, our groups are intentionally small.
Once a session is full, we open a waitlist. Families on the waitlist will be contacted if a spot becomes available.

Do the themes change each holiday?

Yes. Each school holiday has its own unique theme, often inspired by stories, adventures, movement, and theatre.
Activities vary so returning children can enjoy a new creative world each time.

  • 1. What should my child bring each day? They must bring a backpack containing their lunchbox, a bottle of water, and a substantial snack (we move a lot, and children get hungry quickly).

    2. What should my child wear? Please ensure your child wears comfortable, inexpensive clothing. We might get a bit dirty! For the Friday presentation, we may ask you to bring special clothes or costumes.

  • Who supervises the children during the program?

All activities are led by experienced French-speaking educators with a strong background in theatre, storytelling, movement or education.
Our team creates a warm, supportive environment where every child feels safe to explore, imagine and participate.

Do all staff hold Working With Children Checks?

Yes. Every member of our team holds a valid Working With Children Check as required in Western Australia.
Additional staff and volunteers follow the same standards of supervision, conduct and safety.

How do you handle allergies, medications or medical needs?

When enrolling, parents are asked to provide detailed medical and allergy information.
We take this information very seriously and adapt our environment whenever possible.
If your child requires medication, please speak with our team before the program begins so we can organise a safe and appropriate plan.

Please note: we are a nut-aware environment.

How do you support children who are shy or anxious?

Many children feel unsure when joining a new group — especially in an immersion setting.
Our approach is gentle and structured: we use familiar rituals, group games, movement and storytelling to help children ease into the day.
No child is ever forced to speak; confidence grows naturally through play, creativity and positive group experiences.

What happens if my child is upset during the day?

If a child becomes upset, a French-speaking educator will support them calmly and kindly. We help them regulate emotions, reconnect with the group, or take a quiet moment if needed.
If your child does not settle or needs additional reassurance, we will contact you immediately.

What is your behaviour guidance policy?

We work with clear, simple rules that encourage respect, kindness and collaboration.
If a child struggles, we redirect them, help them express their needs appropriately, and ensure the safety and wellbeing of the whole group.
Repeated or unsafe behaviour will be discussed with parents so we can find the best way forward together.

How do you manage safety during movement or theatre activities?

All sessions are designed with age-appropriate movement, safe transitions, and clear instructions.
Children are supervised at all times, and spaces are arranged to minimise risks during games, improvisations and creative tasks.

What happens in case of an emergency or evacuation?

Our team follows standard emergency and evacuation procedures for each venue.
Children are guided calmly and securely, and parents will be notified if necessary.

  • What will my child do during the day?

Each program is built around a creative French immersion experience.
Children explore stories, characters, movement, theatre games, crafts, and collaborative activities — all in French.
The day is playful, imaginative and structured so children can express themselves, work together, and experience the language in meaningful, joyful ways.

What is a typical day like?

Each day follows a gentle, creative rhythm built entirely in French.
Children begin with a warm welcome and movement-based activities before diving into the theme of the week. One of the central elements of the program is guided improvisation: children invent their own story, build characters, and explore the world of the theme through theatre and imagination.

The day alternates between active moments (games, movement, improvisation) and calmer creative tasks (crafts, storytelling, reflection), giving children space to express themselves and collaborate with others.

    Is there any screen time?

    No.
    Our programs are completely screen-free.
Children spend the day moving, imagining, creating and interacting with others — the way immersion works best.

Do children perform at the end of the day?

No formal performance takes place at the end of each day. We focus on exploration, play, and creative immersion during the sessions.
However, at the end of the week, children prepare a short presentation for parents, sharing elements of the story they created together. This moment is simple, joyful, and entirely child-led — a way to celebrate their imagination and their journey in French.

How do you choose your themes?

Each theme is inspired by French stories, cultural elements, adventures, legends or artistic worlds.
We create imaginative universes that invite children to explore language through play, theatre and creativity.
Themes change every school holiday to keep the experience fresh and exciting for returning children.

Do returning children repeat the same activities?

    No.
While some movement or warm-up games may be familiar, the stories, challenges, characters and creative tasks change with every holiday theme.
Children who come back often enjoy discovering new worlds — and deepening their French in the process.

Is the program adapted to different ages within the 5–12 range?

    Yes.
Activities are designed with multiple entry points so younger and older children can participate at their own level.
Our educators adapt instructions, language complexity and creative challenges to support every age group.

  • Do you take photos or videos during the program?

Yes. We take photos throughout the week so that parents can enjoy a glimpse of what their children experienced.
These photos are shared privately with enrolled families at the end of the week through a secure Drive link.

We do not post any child’s image publicly unless parents have given explicit permission during enrolment.

How do you handle media permissions and privacy?

All children are photographed for the private Drive folder sent to parents at the end of the week.
However, no photos are ever used publicly—on our website, social media or printed materials—unless parents have clearly opted in for public media permission.

We follow a strict privacy policy and always respect the choices made by each family.

Will I receive updates during the day?

We do not send live updates, as our team is fully dedicated to the children and the flow of the day.
All practical information is available at any time in your Member Account on our website.
If a situation requires your attention, we contact you immediately.

How can I contact the team during the program?

You can reach us by email, through your Member Account, or by SMS using the number provided in your confirmation message.
For urgent matters during the day, SMS is usually the fastest way.

Do you share my personal information with anyone?

    No.
All personal data is used exclusively for administrative and safety purposes related to the French Holiday Program.
We never share or sell personal information to third parties.
